East Pre + Pre's Rock

January 17, 2009 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Woke up at 0630 and, after some tea and stretching, was out the door at 0830.

I had no intent on running today, but I figured that MAYYYYYBE my knee pain was from medial quad -- having gone God-knows-how-long without properly using it. With some pre-run massage, it actually felt good enough on the run for me to brave across the Knickerbocker Bridge, and eventually up to Pre's Rock.

It was a bit foggy and in the 30s this morning, but no wind. Nice running weather. At the base of Hendricks -- Fairmont and Birch -- I did a couple quick quad stretches then jogged midway up to where I used to start my hill repeats from last summer.

Per usual good judgment, I did an actual repeat, "going hard" up the hill, over past the Rock, to the end line. The first one, though tiring, went so well I did two: both in 1:55 (at least 10s off what I used do them in, maybe 15). I am OUT OF SHAPE.

I paused briefly at the Rock to check out the stuff left behind, then jogged down. Stopped at Holiday Inn Express to drop a mega-DEUCE (from last night's granola). It was bad. Worst of all, the toilet was plugged ahead of time so that granola-y DEUCE went NOWHERE. Eek.

Grabbed a banana at the continental then jogged home. Got about a K from the house and seemingly real knee pain came on -- about 4.5mi in -- so I pulled the plug. I passed the time back home by doing drills and bounding.

After a quick snack and packing up, I drove to Anytime and had a good lift. Zero pain with goblet squats, step-downs, or jump-squats, which was good. I can still "feel" the knee a bit, though, this afternoon.

Indulged on some choco AND oat-raisin vegan cookies from Keystone -- AWESOME. They might get a liquor license soon -- DOUBLE AWESOME.

Good athletic day; let's see if I can make some use of the rest of the day.
