crescent trail #20: actually back this time (6-7pm)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: low 80s, cloudy. so odd that its not rediculously hot. before i left, it was in the hundreds. on vacation it was cooler. i expected to endure the heat again when returned, but its cooled way down. then again, i haven't run at the heat of the day yet...

why did i decide being coach potato was a good idea? why didn't i learn from last time? and the time before, and the time before that? i always feel miserable after this. i haven't ran in two days, and lets just say its had an effect on me. well, i'm back now at least. healthy again.

heard foot steps behind me. i did initially freak, but just as a reflex. only a second later, i was determined to not allow him to pass. soon, i heard a grunt behind me that told me it was a guy. i was relieved that it wasn't a girl, cauz i wasn't gunna have a girl beat me (couldn't bear one of those perky joggers passing me). but nevertheless, i wasn't having a guy pass me either. nobody was passing me. this was my first real taste of competition of the summer - bring it on. that evil anticipation wasn't on my mind, for a year ago, i was sure to give up, and if it was a guy, i was sure to just allow him to pass and get on with my run. not today. it was excitement that filled me.

as the footsteps behind me quickened, so did mine. i could tell he was trying to gain ground on me. now this was fun. i snickered in my head - no way was he passing. i was determined to keep leverage on him till i got to the mid-point, the turn around point, of my run - at the 6mi marker.

that guy caused me to speed way up. too bad i didn't get him for the next mile, cauz my mind really started to wander.

up that hill/bridge mindlessly. not really thinking too much, so makes sense that my pace continued to slow, esp up a hill.
