Comments:
Ran the 2 mile time trial in the afternoon. Going in I was just thinking being around my 5kish pace where I was last year. Me and Ethan had talked at camp and I had a pretty good idea of where I wanted to be.
Going in I felt okay. My legs were pretty tired but I was pleased how they felt better as the day went on. Ran some errands in the early afternoon and then naped for about a half hour in Peter's suiet in the villeage.
Went over to the track and warmed up an easy 2 almost to MLK and then over around MiPueblo and northside. Added another mile on the track. Did Kamulsky drills and spiked up. A lap of 50 on 50 off strides and then a few on my own to get the legs moving. They felt decent and I felt smooth doing those so that lifted my confidence.
First lap in 68. A bit fast but pretty comfortable. Its hard to feel the pace having not run hard in a very long time. Kinda pushed. I feel like I fell into 5k pace a bit too much at some point. I remember thinking to myself that I felt pretty comfortable running during the middle stages of the time trial. Hit the mile in 4:45 and 2k in like 5:58. Once I heard that I knew I needed to pick things up. Picked it up and tried to just catch people the last three laps.
9:28 Splits: 4:45, 4:43
12 second improvement from last year which is a good starting point. And I definitly know there was more in the tank. I ran the whole thing alone and felt way too comfortable in the mid stages. Def can go faster.
Cooled down a bit at the turf then back to Veale for the strength tutorial and lift. Then another 2.5 before stretching and essentials.
Static 1, Ibis x30, hips
Shout out to Corey for breakking his barrier!!! and to Peter and Steel for their first sub 10's. Also Brandon was really impressive in his first race back.
