Blind Fartlek

August 25, 2011 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Muddy

Comments:
Ran the blind fartlek workout at the farm today. It was hard but not ridiculously so, mostly because the group in front would turn around and come back during the recoveries. Still, I hung on well for 10 intervals. I got dropped a little on the eleventh one, but came back to lead number twelve. I had been running basically in last place on the team, but the people who I was running with kept dropping off the back for different reasons, so I had to work harder and harder not to be running by myself. When number twelve started, Ethan didn't know I was trying to lead it (not his fault at all) and took it out at a rapid pace, when he let me take over, I maintained that same pace as best I could for the rest of the minute, but still wound up slowing a little in the final 15 seconds. When we hit time and the recovery interval started, I slowed so much that the recovery pace the group was running blew me away. Since I was very tired from this interval and I could feel my right quad starting to complain, I cooled down with Ben and headed back to the start.
