RHR 68, pretty high but I forgot to take it right away and I think that going to the bathroom before taking it made it artificially high.
Goal was 5 miles at 5:50-6:00, second group. My left calf and shin were pretty tight from the start and didn't really loosen up until after the halfway point, which is also where I got dropped for the most part, even though my third mile was actually my fastest. Splits were 5:58, 5:55, 5:53, 6:07, 6:01. This felt harder than it should have, my legs were heavy during that fourth mile, and while they felt better the last mile, I was still putting in more effort than I feel this should have taken. However, I know its just one tempo in August and doesn't really have any bearing on what will happen down the road, just have to put it behind me. HR at the end was 188, which is real high, I want to talk to coach about that a bit, probably try to find some way to work on cardio other than running to keep from tearing myself up, something to do on an off day.
Mile to the track, 3x300m w/ 100m jog between, felt kinda fast but my legs were already pretty dead. Cooled down a mile back to Veale, did the lift, Static 1 during the meeting, Eagle in the dorm after chapter, also rolled at Veale, plan to ice bath tomorrow afternoon.
