So Grogan talked me into doing this earlier in the summer as part of a "dream team" idea to come back and win the meet. In the end Grogan and I were the only two alumni to race. I wasn't really prepared to race and haven't done a workout in a month.
In the end, I ran what was socially exceptable but by no means good. I am still in decent shape and I really think my main problem wasn't a lack of speed or workouts or anything of the sort; rather it was that I didn't care. Grogan comes back with some kind of swagger to him where he passionately wants to show everyone how fast he is. I pushed myself for four years, constantly fighting to do the best I could with whatever circumstances I was in, in order to do my part in contribution to the team. Now, I don't have that anymore and I have no will to push myself through the pain. It takes a lot of fire to make it hurt and I have none right now. I have a healthy, willing body ready to run, but a mind that doesn't care to push it unless I am running with purpose.
I went out somewhat conservatively and my only body related isssues were some minor cramps from drinking enough water for the heat. I was recovered within like five minutes of finishing.
Still, I did enjoy myself today, and to my utter bewilderment I actually won a t-shirt.
