Comments:
by the end of my work-out i felt on top of the world...but it was hell getting there - of course.
from the start of practice, i wasn't as nervous as i used to be. i guess i was just more confident - i mean, i knew i could do it, whatever the workout was, anthony gave it to me for a reason.
there were times were i was kinda excited, but mostly, it was just about getting thru it. it was awesome to be able to use marisa - not just to pace me, but motivate me, inspire me, not let me give up...she definitely got me thru that - it was the first 6 that are the hardest. from there, u just gotta keep telling urself you can do it, and take one at a time, pretending its ur last. actually, the very first one was the hardest. marisa really helped pace my first six, sticking right to her should (most of the time...) the last 6 i started using my own instincts, and it was awesome knowing she was right behind me (a year ago, well, lets just say having someone behind me would have hindered my performance).
then the finale, ahh the finale! out of the blue, anthony decides to thro a bunch of guys in for our last 400 - and then we're off! the adrenaline! but after the first 80m, i was falling back, so marisa who knew me well, told somebody to run with me. so leland sped up and was SO motivating. i really needed that. and i was suddenly lifting my legs, confident, lengthened stride...then another push from leland and i started actually using my adrenaline down the straight-away...another push, and another...and i'm suddenly on my toes at the 300m mark! then the excitement of the backstretch kept me going thru the turn. i was afraid i wouldn't have enough to finish it off, but another motivation from leland and seeing anthony and (assistant whats his name - thats embarassing) - and now there was no question in my mind i was finishing this! all the way thru the finish line in 87! (or was it 78??) remember, the majority of mine had been low 90s... :0 !!!!!
i love gds xc :) we all ran SO good!
now THAT was satisfying. i'm backkk!
