Adidas/Rexius

February 7, 2009 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 40s, overcast, slight breeze

Comments:
FINALLY! It took 5.5 weeks, but I finally made it to the South Eugene trails.

Before that, I was up at 0445 to "stay in the habit". Did some cleaning up, then stretching, then circuits and some jump squats. After that, some comp time and "online errands".

At 0930 I hit the road, grabbing some continental breaky before arriving at Anytime to lift. GOOD LIFT but tiring! I was really hauling ass through my lifts and it's tough with little rest between exercises. To do 15 squats, then immediately go do a dozen pull-ups is TOUGH.

The knee felt "really not bad" so I drove to Pancakes House/the old pad and ran Amazon/Rexius from there. Stopped for drills at Hayward, then made it on my way.

Thought long and hard about my knee, and how I need to "not externally rotate". I worked on that, but mid-run the pain came on. Then it hit me: I'm STILL not loading my L leg. From the end of Rexius, around Adidas to the car I picked it up and very nearly "leaned" to the L to USE the leg. It felt like I was leaning the whole time, but I bet that was the most "equal" looking I really was the whole run. The last two miles I hauled ass, so to speak, running maybe 6:20 pace.

I was tired by the time I finished but, viola! No knee pain AT ALL. That's what happens when you USE IT.

Iced both calves and the knees afterwards.

I think I'm gonna race the Truffle Shuffle tomorrow. It's time to stop feeling sorry for myself.
