Hardesty + June (-summit)

November 4, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Worked 'til 11, then took off to run from Goodman. Felt tired on the way out. Conditions were chilly: in the 40s. The idea was Hardesty + June, and maybe another Hardesty, but I bagged that idea and went only with one loop.

Take well before going, then brought a full 70oz with some gels and a candy bar, clif bloks. Felt tired, but solid on the way up, with some pesky R heel soreness. Stopped a handful of times quick to snap pics of the snow >3000', which was cool, but otherwise made excellent time (~60min), then made my way over to June.

The trail was in good condition despite the snow. Did the whole way over except the summit trail -- didn't feel like hiking a ton. Then down the Sawtooth trail.

Uptempo was the order of the day: more aggressive on the downs, running nearly all the ups, emphasis on pelvic mob/stab. Did not stop the watch on the descent: took 2hrs from Hardesty back to Goodman.

Got a little bonky on the way down; wound up having to walk and refuel, take 1/2 an s-cap, then another full gel on the road descent.

Goodman was a nice trail but long-ish. Began to bonk again in the last kilo but fought through it.
