Goals for track

November 17, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Other

Comments:
Goals for track are as follows:
1. Be injury-free.
This is a carry-over but it has to be a priority, as it’s the only way I’ll improve. To do this I must: a) stay on top of the essentials and other little stuff, and b) communicate frequently and readily with Coach L, Coach Sly, and the trainers.
2. Focus. I need to stop procrastinating and get to work. This is a subset of the “other little stuff” I need to do to achieve goal number one, but it’s the one where I need the most work and it has a lot of potential to affect me negatively. I will need help to achieve this one, and I have to acknowledge that need in order to move forward.
3. 4:30 mile (or the 1500 equivalent of 4:10). This is a goal I set for myself at the end of last year. It’s a big drop for me, and the only way I know of to close that kind of gap is to train hard, but also train smart. That’s another big reason to stay in constant communication with the coaches.
4. Contribute to the team effort. For me this means to help my teammates achieve their goals. Believe as a team, achieve as a team. The best way to succeed is to help each other, and until I improve my times, the only way I'll make a difference is through others.
