Speed Workout on Track

December 13, 2011 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Chilly, windy, sunny

Comments:
We did 6 400s with an ideal pace in the low 70s. In the end we obliterated our goal times, and ran mostly sub-70s. I'd say this was probably my best workout since I got injured: I did all 6 when no one else did (Tristan and Spencer did 4 and then a 200, and Thomas did 5, although he led most of them by a second so he was more tired), and I ran some blazing times. Hell, I'm pretty sure this would have been a great workout by my standards from when I was in peak shape.

In fact, I've been looking up past workouts to gauge how behind I am, and, well, according to my workouts I'm back to full strength. My mileage is lower than before, but I'm running long runs faster than before and my speed workouts are either somewhat slower or on par with those from before. I'm not going to bet on that trend staying true for my races, but it does give me some hope that I may have a good season despite the hardships of the past 7+ months.
