northside test run

January 25, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Well its been 2 days since I ran. Jess and Coach oked the idea of doing a test run to see if my back could handle it. After biking the first time, went with Mercer out to northside and back at a real easy pace. I guess it didnt start out that great. Was tight in the beginning. Felt pretty bad at the end.

It is still pulled. Come to thing of it, running the next 3 days after was a bad idea, and I am going to feel the after effects. Jess estimates 1-2 weeks for recovery, which means I am xtraining until after CMU probs. Tempo maybe 2 times a week on the bike, but no lifting or hurdle run throughs. Kinda bummed, I was just getting back into doing workouts again. I can live with this and I will live with it. I came off cross in good shape, maintained it over break, and am already at a better place than I was last year. Im in better cardio shape, and my legs feel awesome.

I have a new goal, to get my back better. By that time, it will be time to start getting ready for outdoor, my real time. Hopefully then I will be ready to make the long haul. 14 weeks before Regionals was just preseason. Think about it!! I have practiced being patient so that I can handle situations like this, and I would say I have gotten better at it. This is another step, and I will come out of it stronger, determined, and ready to fucking go. For indoor I guess I am back to ringing the bell and taking times. I thought about it last year how sad I was to be in that situation when I wanted to be racing, at Spartan Relays and CMU Dual. At Calvin last season, I remember thinking to myself what it would be like to be a spectator, to have the roles reverse and escape from the nervousness. Right before we spiked up, I mentioned to myself what it was like in indoor, and I got fired up to be there, in the moment, ready to race. It helped and I PRed. That is an important mindset to have I feel, or at least it helped me.

Its good to vent and go on a rant sometimes, because I am scared and frustrated right now, missing my endorphins. I know that if I follow the plan and act patient, they will return. I still have my new training plan, which will help me become better, so I am excited about that.

After biking, stretched static 3, roll, L7 and hips before doing some abs with Mercer. Went down to the training room to get ice I decided, skip the lift. Could have done some ankle stuff, but I will do that tomorrow.

This is just part of the pain that goes into the finishing time posted on the internet. I should know this just as well as anyone.
