According to my calculations, today was the 3rd longest run I've ever done. I don't know if I just didn't eat well enough yesterday or what, but today was awful. I was hoping my new shoes would cure my hip-flexor issue, but it nagged me for the first 4 miles. I stopped to stretch and decided that if it didn't improve I couldn't finish the run. Luckily, it loosened up after that. Still, my legs felt incredibly heavy and I didn't feel fast at any point during the run. It could have something to do with the fact that I've now run 90 miles over the past 2 weeks. This coming easy week is beyond welcome. Breakfast: 2 bagels with butter. No gatorade, no coffee: big mistake. Had to wake up at 8 to eat something, slept another couple hours, and then headed out. Not a very good run, but I got the miles in and that's the important part. Now I'm trying to decided whether or not I want my long run for the next 3 weeks to be 21 miles each, or if I'm going to do two 21s and one 23. I'll continue to think about it.
