MLK steady state

Ooo looks like the heat is continuing, but should drop off next week. I went at 3 by myself. This is what I wanted and needed. A race today would have been awful, but I got in a good workout instead. It was hot, but I still decided to do the steady state. My calves are still pretty sore, and my legs feel pretty stiff, but this was still good.

Went out alone to MLK, doing the regular warm up. The wind was coming from the lake, so the way out was going to be a little slow. Did some stretches and leg swings, but wanted to get to it, so I just went. Goal pace was 5:50- 6:00 probably. Went out in exactly 6's for the miles. Missed the 2.5 mark, so I went a little past 15 minutes. Also stopped out there to pee quickly. Felt really controlled and powerful, not to hard. Hardest part was being alone. I let my guard down a few times, which I wasnt ok with. The whole thing went by quickly. I stopped the watch at 30:00, which would have been 5 miles. It was at the playground, so I sprinted in the last 20 sec or so to get the full distance. Felt tired at the end, but HR was only 160, so decent.

Took of the brace and cooled down back to Veale, then did a half mile on the field barefoot. Felt "Slappy". Tired after. Storage room was closed, so I just stretched and rolled with the stuff from the locker room. L7 after too, with some abs. Ice bagged, but I would like a ice bath sometime soon...

Good steady state, so much easier than the one two weeks ago, where I went the same pace for 3.5 and I was hurting after. Progress. Im gonna try to get into the water pit tomorrow, since its just a easy run.

I realized that it has been a year since I PRed. It wasnt even that much either, mostly from adrenaline. Its gonna change. The jump to the next level.
