Ottawa Race Weekend 5k

May 26, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: sunny with cloudy periods, some finishers compained it was hot but I didn't think it slowed me down

Comments:
So the big race has come and gone. I'm happy with my result but not over the moon because I know there's a couple more seconds I can squeeze out of the 5k. 4th is pretty cool though.

During the warm up I just start following a few dudes in Waterloo singlets. After about 3 mins I quip "so it's it weird when some guy starts following you during your warm-up?" They laughed only a little bit but they were fine gentlemen.

I peed in an alley.

15' plus of easy running then about 5' at steady state.
Drills, strides, leg swings.
Hopped the guard rail to butt my way into the corall. Kind of a prick move.

The gun goes off and I keep ahead of the stampede. A good start for once! That's probably the most positive thing I can say about the race, really. I should have gone with the dude in the Quebec singlet but I chickened out. Again. But I think my pace was consistent; another positive.

Finished and managed to hang onto 4th while there was some movement up front in the last 400m.

Just a tiny cool down and met up with JE and the crew to go out and get silly. Now I'm home to JE's place and ready to sleep. G'night.
