my old friend, the two mile. last year i was looking forward to this race way too much because i had such a strong desire to break ten. this year, that monkey was off my back, and there was no pressure. chris kelly and i were talking on one of the camp runs and he said something along the lines of having nothing to prove during preseason. true story. i know i haven't exactly been the best during cross country, but i know i'm ready to be there for lots of reasons. i couldn't be prepared in any better way for right now. so thats just what i thought about on warm up. i knew i would have to go out a little harder than i usually do though. my body is so set in stone on 5 minute pace that i couldn't get stuck there. i didnt want to be overly comfortable, even though i'm one of the biggest indicators that the time trial means nothing. so after like 2 1/2 laps i surged up into second to try and see what i could do. i know i'm not in ideal shape, but why the hell not? i need to be confident in myself and today i was. ended up 4th, behind chris, ethan, and phil who passed me with 100 to go, but i'm very pleased with today. i know where i'm at. and i feel good about it. i also am very impressed with the team as a whole. impressive showing of depth. we can be good, and i know its only going to make me better.
