Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Woke up early to head out to the farm for intersquad. I was very sore yesterday, and my shin was still throbbing with pain at night. When I woke up in the morning though, it felt a lot better, pretty much fine. Very odd... I guess the icing helped. Felt very calm and relaxed on the drive out, taking in the sights of University Heights and Beachwood, the ones I missed so much over the summer. I thought it was going to be super hot today, but infact the sun was out and it was kinda nice. Some of the teams did their lame introductions before the warm up (seriously...) But we all went out on a nice warm up. I didnt have my calf sleeve on, but my shin felt decent, not throbbing like yesterday... I still put it on at the end of the warmup for precaution. After that, Team W aka Team Wiener did our amazing intro, astounding the crowd. I even stuck a hotdog in CKells ear. We were busy with that so I put my new spikes on right before we started. I like them a lot. They fit tight, unlike my other ones, and they also are really like, like running barefoot. I can get used to that. Unfortunatly, they didnt go very fast today lol.
The race went off and we all packed up very well. We stuck together for the first mile, came through around 5:30 I think. Not to fast actually I should be under that for race pace later in the season. It felt very comfortable, which is good. The bad thing happened next. The front group broke off on that little hill, then Dong, Aaron and Abdallah and I were kinda running together. On the out and back, I kinda just slowed down into a tempo rhythm and a big pack of freshman passed me at the 2 mile mark. I honeslty wanted to keep up, but I was a little weary of the down hills and I felt like I was spinning my wheels. I need to get those back under me. Kinda kept that same pace from the outer loop as I cruized in, keeping a check on my ankles and my shin. Overall they felt good. My legs were working, but I feel like my cardio was not at full capacity by any means. Could be a good sign. Overall this felt like a easy tempo, but there were a few parts I was hurting. Mentally it was bad to let the pack drop me, but now I remember what that is, first hand, and we can correct it in practice early.
Did a nice cooldown with Gilad and Phil around the mile loop. Legs felt ok actually. Shin so much better, but Ill still try to get the ice cup in this afternoon.
Essentials: Stretch, L7, abs
I was one of the first back, so I got right to stretching and abs. The award ceremony was nerve racking. Very close score. We Won the spirit aWard though, Which Was aWesome. We deserved it lol. I was on W last year and we won the race, and closely missed the spirt award. It was the other way around this year. Congrats to all the teams though this was a fun intersquad.
