Hills on a monday

September 17, 2012 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
This week we are switching up the workouts, since a bunch of people did the tempo on Friday, doing another tempo on a Monday would be an odd turn around. This left us with a hill workout. Earlier in the day, I went out to see Darrell Reed to get new orthotics, since my old ones have been falling apart for quite sometime. The trip was good he made me brand new ones. They feel different, since they are made out of different materials (semi rigid vs the old rigid) ill get used to it. He knows his stuff though so its legit. He told me not to wear them for like 10 miles today, so I didn't lol. Anyways, I had a little time to chill at the house before I walked down to practice. The orthotics felt weird at first, but I got used to them as we were standing around getting ready. We did all the recap from PSB and runner of the week stuff. I got one of the hats Rubin left over, pretty legit. Saw a lot of hard work paying off this weekend.

We all headed out to the meadow. It was kinda chilly out, but I took my shirt off anyways. It all worked out in the end. We did the usual warm up, after a while the orthotics felt real natural and it was all good. Before we drilled, I switched into my flats, which had the old orthotics in them. THis was so I didn't go over the 10 mile limit… They felt weird to switch. Drills went well, my calves were still a little sore, but my hammy is feeling way better. WE had the exact same workout as last week in store. Same groups too. Me Wyatt Corey Aaron and Drew started a little bit behind the first group. We stuck together for most of the hills, some of us playing catch up on the flats. The first few went by really quickly and felt really good. Not taxed at all and I made a better effort to pull in and use the down hill. Still not super fast, but getting more efficient. The longer hill felt better than the short hill today. I felt good on the short hill, just kinda clumsy going up it. On the last two or so, our group joined in with the first group and we finished together. This felt way easier than last weeks, and I felt strong.
Quick shoe switch, then we went for the cool down. Big good group of people, we all headed out into little Italy, then cut back on 123. Aaron almost stepped on a dead skunk. Shit was nasty!!!

Felt pretty good on the cool down
Tired when we got back, but as usual had to head down to lift. No new sheets so we did the same as last week. The arm stuff was kinda weak, but the leg stuff felt pretty strong. No squats again.

Essentials: Stretch, roll, L7, hips, crunches, ice bath

Stretched out real nice and got in some hip stuff too. Felt good hammy was a little tight after lifting, but fine after stretching and a busy ice bath. Kinda stressed cause we go out late, and I had a bunch of things to get done. When I got home, the internet was out since Time Warner fucked up something, and I spent and hour trying to fix that… fuck it pissed me off a lot. I found the calmness and calmed down and felt a little better. Cant let something out of my control to ruin the flow…
