Highlights:
* Ottawa Race Weekend 5k: Having a early season goal really help lift me out of my doldrums and gave focus to my training. Being able to stay with a friend made the whole weekend memorable. Especially seeing 27 Van Gohs at the National Art Gallery. It also earned me Athlete of the Week from the Telegram
* The Tely 10: I feel I left it all on the course. It's not an easy race. Celebrating afterwards was fun too.
* Finding a trusted training partner in GMacD: He's very smart and I've learned a lot from him. Without sounding too cocky, I think he learned a lot from me too. I feel there was mutual respect between us.
* Going INJURY FREE! Training smart pays off on race days; I PB'd in the 5k, 10k, and 10 mile. Two quotes: "Don't sacrifice long-term goals for the sake of short-term gains" and "You don't get injuries: you GIVE them... to yourself."
* Having someone you love to share your successes with.
Lowlights:
* My first 2 10ks: some of this I could have helped and some of this was out of my control.
* Missing out on strength work: When I lost the motivation to train back in January, I got away from the strength work I had started. I feel this was a weakness in my running game.
* Not hitting 26" for a 200m: Maybe this is a sentimental lowlight but I wanted to reclaim the speed I once had when hitting 26" for a 200m repeat seemed easy.
* Lack of workouts on DR vacation: Although I was active, I wasn't able to run the way I wanted to at the Grand Bravera resort.
The Future: First, I'll take 3 weeks off. I plan to be active during my recovery, however. It will also give me a chance to complete neglected tasks. And when I come back I'll be able to start some strength work early and get my mileage up. I'd like to hit 100 Miles in a week by the end of December.
