SE Rec to S. Park to Lake Monona Trail to Willy Street to Eastwood to Atwater to St. Bernards, back to Willy Street to King to Capital Square to State St to East Campus Mall back-

I wanted to mix things up a bit today so I went out the Lake Monona Trail to the isthmus and Willy St after that. Willy St is the epicenter of Madison hippie-ness, a sort of Coventry on steroids with older wood frame housing and fewer apartments. As I ran by, I mostly noticed the quantity of artsy style houses that were lurid but not well kept, flashy but not done well, often arrayed in some rainbow colored flag or sign that says peace. It also seemed like everyone I saw was smoking. A house along the way actually had a lawn sign supporting Planned Parenthood. On my way back, I saw an old woman, maybe 70 or so, wearing a miniskirt and a shawl. It seems flamboyance knows no age limits on Willy St. When I reached the other end, I turned on to Eastwood, which I'm half surprised they haven't changed the name of after Clint's appearance at the RNC, and was in a slightly more normal working class area, though it did appear to have some spillover of hippie elements.

My hip hurt a little more today but I think it was mostly because I forgot to pack the Icy Hot when I came to campus.
