October 14, 2012 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Leisurely morning, then drove out to Goodman for another round. Didn't feel terribly tired, which was nice. Same routine as Friday - some calories, but no water - but I was much better hydrated, pre-run.
VERY relaxed run up Hardesty again - even more so than Friday. Stride felt great and I felt like I was using my hips well. Split just under 63. Took a gel up there, then carried on.
Less crampiness on the descent off Sawtooth - what a fucking awesome trail!! - but it came on again on the road downhill. This is good feedback, because I think it means I'm "tensing into the old man stride" AND not keeping my trunk engaged into the downhill. I think this happens with fatigue. Good practice to work through this for those important downhills at the end of TNF (into Tennessee and the finish).
Solid trail section on Goodman - just gorgeous trail. Split 2:48, which might be among the fastest I've ever run it. Wasn't even trying.
End of the run: working on the L hip drive. This is like a decade long issue I think. Even standing and on all 4's I have a hard time driving my L knee up without twisting through my trunk!
Rest of the day - on and off back soreness. Bummer. But I can't expect to run 100mi/wk + two mtn long runs and expect my back to heal. Oh well...gotta get the stride efficiency down, then back off the mileage, which will happen this week.
