Dreary day. Also got a lot of stuff in the first few days this week before fall break rolls around and I can chill a little. SO I was doin a lot of thangs and eventually rolled around to heating before practice. Back is feeling good. Had an awfully long meeting before hand, talking about how the rest of the season is going to progress. We then did the big balls and I got them for the first time this season. Means a lot from Coach Barnes since I have trusted his training these past few years, and now he trusts me to use it. We then all headed out on the warm up, so legit to see the big group. I think it is important to keep going and get that full length season under the belt. Freshman year I did it cause I knew I wanted to be there at the end of the season. It payed off. It started to get real blustery and such at the top of MLK... NBD we had on clothes. I grouped up according to my expected race pace, since its time to get fast. That was Drew and Wyatt and Mercer and Austin and Ben B and Corey. The group went out fast. Especially since I have been tempoing at 5:40s or so, and its tough on the sidewalk for me to get rolling. I started to fall off after we went in the first mile too fast. I guess I was looking to run 5:35s the whole way. Corey and I grouped up and kept running through, but our pace slowed. I was feeling real fatigued, enough to know I should slow down on a tempo. Hrm tempos have just been kinda slow for me this year. HR was around 160 at the end of the 3 split. It was also so windy out there on the lake that that slowed us down a lot. On the way back, Corey was with me for the first mile which felt good, we were right on target. I felt awesome as we passed the first mile, but I was alone at that point so inherantly I slowed down, a lot. Still had a high HR at the end... Got to look to get those legs moving for the intervals. I just flet kinda slowish and sluggish like I usually do on MLK. Phil and I cooled down back, throwing in the 45sec pick ups. Those were nice. Paces were
5:26, 5:43, 5:52. 5:29, 5:48
Lifted upstairs. That really tired me out...
Essentials: Stretch, roll, L7, hips, abs, ice bath
Real good self care session after lifting. Legs feeling tired overall and bodys tired. Got to get through tomorrow and keep the positive mindset with all the stress. Luckily, this is something I have been practicing, for moments like these.
