May 19, 2009 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid-80s, at least, light breeze
Comments:
Slightly more efficient today: up at 8:40 (still up coughing at night, but not as bad), did a bunch of "admin" stuff, then finally hit the road at around 10:30.
I hate to admit it, but I read this workout in Runner's World: Warhurst's "Michigans": K, 800, 600, 400 at "5K pace" with tempo jog rest. I'm a big fan of this tempo jog rest lately, as it turns a regular track session into a strength session, so I tried it.
Went pretty well, but it was VERY HOT, especially on a black track. WOW. None of the segments were particularly easy (or awful); it was tough to cool off, though, when you're running 6:00 pace on the "recovery".
Times: 3:07, 2:32, 1:56, 69
Felt great on the warm-up, tired on the cooldown, and pouring sweat on both. Only one swoop from the crow, but I had my head on a swivel!
