November 3, 2012 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Sunny, a bit damp
Comments:
Up early to get worked on by Kelly. Kelly is a fellow ultra runner, and a yoga instructor at HCY; he is also the sole reason I ever went to yoga, and ever asked out Chelsea. He, in effect, "set us up" (though he didn't know at the time of her "non-exclusive" with El Jefe back in early July).
Kelly does great work, but he's also fun to talk to. Talked about running and professional stuff. He then asked me about Chelsea, and a solid chunk of time was spent discussing that. He's met El Jefe, and I'm relieved (I guess? Or is it more disturbed?) that he's also had negative experiences and impressions of him. I got a lot of positive affirmations - both on running and "Chill-C" - which was appreciated.
Post-run, I went home and hammered out a nice "convict" session: 4 sets of push-ups, leg raises, handstand push-ups, and pull-ups. Then went for a run.
The idea was to do a "fat burning" run: keeping it at the <65% VO2max, so as to allow the sugar stores - and higher-level "effort engines" - continue to rest and replenish. Went very easy (though still clocked 7:30/mi) on the roads up river, around Hendricks and onto Ribbon trail. From there connected to Spring Blvd, then up Baldy and the entire Ridgeline Trail to Blanton - east to west. From there it was down the roads to home.
Got a little tired near the end - but I think I was starting to "flex". Overall solid run.
Rest of the day: talked to mom, after her first 5K race. Cleaned, then went to Oakshire to get some beer for the Duck game, which was at 4. Watched at Matt's house (who had a rough first trail marathon). Post-game, was going to "go out" (solo), but felt super-tired, so went home and was in bed before 10.
