Michigan Bluff to Deadwood and back

December 29, 2012 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid 30s --> high 40s?

Comments:
Ran from MB, hoping to get deep into Los Canyones, but immediately we were greeted by at least 4" of snow up in MB. We went anyway; after the first kilo down the canyon, the snow disappeared, making for good running. Pretty fast descent, then excellent - sustainable but honest - climb up the other side, which was snow free 'til the switchbacks. But once we got to the motorbike trails near the top, the snow was a foot deep. No good. So we turned back.

Had an AWESOME descent: pretty easy to 14-Minute Tree, then really opened it up. I focused on a quick turnover, keeping forward, and getting the heel beneath me. Felt GREAT. Did it in about 11:15.

The climb up, led by BGD, was "sustainable" but HARD. I struggled to keep up, and still maintain OK form. I felt myself lose my good R push off and L flex, but worked to keep it together and have a quick "pelvis" turnover.

Overall GREAT run. Post run: the old Celica battery died, but that simply afforded us the ability to meet some more MB locals, who jump-started the car. Thanks, "Lev"!
