South EUG track

January 15, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Had a slightly longer lunch, so I did the track session today. Thought about doing 2x5x400m, but settled on 8x400, but super short (45s) rest.

Got to the track and there was none other than The Legend, John Ticer, grinding out 800s. Grade-A badass (http://conductthejuices.com/2008/12/25/the-legend-of-ticer/)

The 400s were relaxed, emphasis on "getting the foot under" for a compact stride, and of course, "opening" the pelvis and quick turnover. I think I succeeded with the first two at least. Erased the splits off my watch...damn. They ranged from 72-74, with perhaps a single 75. GOOD work, considering the light rest.

Some excitement when a class of middle schoolers showed up to run a mile...added some fun to slalom around them.

Cooled down back to work with Ticer, who was some cool road ultra goals for '13. It'd be great to see him run, as he's dealt with injuries for 2 years!
