Impromptu tempo

It occurred to me at the end of the lunch run that I MIGHT simply be landing too narrow w/my L foot, and this is causing ALL the pain issues on the L side:

- L lateral foot
- L heel
- L anterior shin
- L hip "pinch"
- L hamstring?

So after work I hopped on the treadmill and did a rear analysis: first running "comfortable", then widening. Upon review, "comfy" = the leg was way too narrow, creating a compensatory lateral foot strike and a "pinch angle" at the hip! WOW.

After treadmill tinkering, I drove home and ran from there, determined to "practice" the wider strike. Focused on flexing wider (e.g. knee out a bit) and landing wider. This also has the effect of a greater R LE push off...which is how this was caused...the R LE being shitty.

Ran to Alton, and decided I'd do an "relaxed short tempo": did x4-6 strides and felt awesome being "wide". Got into it along the river, 2 miles up, and one back the other side.

Felt like I was really moving, but was only splitting 5:5x the first two miles, before figuring things out a bit and hitting 5:38 the last mile.

The foot felt BETTER after being sore as shit all day, which was cool.

Post run/next day: R abs sore, B calves sore. I THINK in my efforts to fix that, I "got long" out front and lost a bit of my "opening". Ooops. Always a balancing act...

But this has enormous potential to take a huge pain source away AND make me faster! So I'm excited...
