February 1, 2013 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 40, cloudy
Comments:
Grr...not a great run. Had a good morning, got some new shoes (some kind of light-ish Asics), and was relatively excited to do a long run.
Worked the hammies with the foam roll, stretched a bit and heated up in the "I <3 My Fans" sweatshirt, then took off.
The focus was on being forward, opening the hips/pelvis, AND landing a bit wider on the L. Kept it SUPS easy and flat out to the mall. I was surprised to be hitting 7:00/mi for how flat I felt.
Thought I rolled out everything, my L heel was sore. Had to stop x2 and stretch it, the second time in Springfield, at which I decided I'd best just turn back, rather than head farther out. Ugh.
After the stretch out, it felt pretty good. It was INTERESTING to feel how HARD it was to run with my feet simply - "apart". What I'd do is find a sidewalk crack (or bike lane line) and try to run on either side of it. SUPS hard! Good proof that I've basically been "crossover step" running.
Had to stop a 3rd time to stretch things out about a mile from the house. :-/
Three annoying things:
1.) The L heel. It's not the tendon; it's the joint. Which is fine and preferable, but still annoying.
2.) The damn L toes. Still irritated! I've gotten SO used to landing on the outside of that foot, that, even when having the foot, itself, wider, I was still on the outside of the foot. I do it when I walk, too. I have to WORK to actively use my big toe/ball of the foot, AT all.
3.) Allergies. Low energy and malaise today. Annoying. I ran out of meds; gotta re-up.
I MIGHT have to take a zero tomorrow, the toes are so irritated. SUPS annoying...
