OFF - Des Moines

March 9, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Other

Comments:
No workout, no run.

Had class from 830 to 7ish today. Learned a TON. The best was that I learned some stuff for MY STRIDE! I asked our instructor about some strategies to straighten out my shit. She gave me two key exercises:

1.) side skipping. When I go R (where you have to push off R and keep your trunk L to keep from falling over), it was easy. Going L? TOUGH. But it was really good proproception to feel what it's like to "Left Push Right".

2.) Sidelying hip extension. Lying on my right side (forces me to keep my trunk R), pushing my straight L leg against a small ball against a wall. R hip flexes up = like the run stride. EXCELLENT!

She seriously gave me more good stuff in 3min than I've gotten out of my own brain in 3 months (or years?).

PM: The Foursome went out again, to a place called Americana. I didn't really wanna go there, but Ryan is gluten-free and the menu looked solid, so there we went.

It was pretty trendy, but not too posh. We sat near the door and the bar, so we had a full view of folks going in and out.

Swear to God: we must've seen THIRTY women come in in groups of 2-6...with a total of maybe 3 guys. And all hot and dressed to the nines. Since it was busy, they'd mingle at the bar before getting seated.

There was one I spied, who, swear (again) to God, was checking me out. I caught her "DIPPIN" twice! I would've gone over to talk to her, seriously, but (A) we were eating, and (B) she and her party of 6 other women got a table on the other side of the restaurant.

Sigh.

Apparently Des Moines is a hub for the insurance industry, which apparently attracts a bunch of hot, young, single women in their ranks! For fuck's sake! Des Moines!

I lamented my misery to the crew, which included Jess, who's...I guess, lesbian? (Can't really label people as anything these days, but she definitely has a girlfriend and claims to be on "the other team"). Anyway, she's AWESOME! We actually gelled really well, and I told her how sweet it'd be to have her as my "wing woman"! Ha!

Post Americana (wish we hadn't left!), we went to two other establishments for night caps. Didn't get back to the hotel 'til Midnight. Another really fun night!
