Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 50, overcast, no wind

  Comments:
Ran solo track session at lunch. I've resigned myself to the fact that my track work will have to be rushed into a lunch hour, alone; but that's the only time it'll work.
I also resigned myself to the fact that it will FEEL LIKE SHIT. Oh well. But I've decided to go quality vs quantity and make sure I get more rest - the way Ann Trason said, "The more miles I run, the longer rest between track intervals". Cool.
So today, the workout was 8x300 with 1:30 rest (normally 1:00 or less). BUT, the caveats:
1.) I was going to run BACKWARDS/clockwise to force my trunk R ("L pushes R!")
2.) I was going to run TWO turns instead of two straights (e.g. backwards from the 300m mark to the typical start.
The focus today:
TALL: forward trunk, light lumbar extension
ARMS: PUMP down, not "J-SWIVZ"!
HIPS: push behind, "Salazar Stride" recovery/suck in, with the L pushing the trunk R into the lane line.
Did some drills and strides after a mile warm-up.
I was surprised at how a 56 effort produced a 52. Great! I was winded, but they felt good, and NOT all-out. So there I went. And I found that, naturally, they got faster. Had to work the "Trunk R", as well as making sure I had a good wide base. The better I did with trunk forward, the faster I went. AND, the straight was SUPS easy! The second curve was tough.
The splits for the first 7 (1:30 rest):
52.1
51.7
52.9
52.x
51.x
51.2
50.7
(x = missed the split button my new watch!)
So on the last one, I wanted to break 50. So I used the tried-and-true "sexual fantasy" motivation, which was always fun. My ex-ex GF Becky (who's still QUITE hot btw, and the best, "perfect" fake boobs, ever!) was the motivation:
48.2!
Can you tell I'm a bit "frustrated"? B-)
Overall a very good, promising workout! Those are really fast times for me, if they were done counterclockwise and with two straights!!
