Jeff's Noon loop

April 10, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Back felt a TON better this morning, so I knew I ran pretty well yesterday. Some glut and hammy soreness, but pretty equal. Some R ab soreness, so probZ wasn't relaxing that fully.

Back was GOOD this AM.

Ran with Jeff at noon. Felt a little heavy, but I felt myself pushing the pace on him. He claimed we were running 6:30s but doubtful. My back was a bit sore, and I think I was tensing it into extension! Ugh! But it had a lot to do with having to hold myself back a bit with him (rather than being "forward' and letting it go). Back's been sore this afternoon at work, as a result, but still much-much better than Sun-Mon...

**UPDATED: I know what I did: trying to "open" my hips, I was going into extension. Oops. Gotta simply "lean forward and push straight long", rather than "arch long" behind. Oops. I did that well in the track session; not on today's run.

No Hardesty this afternoon: going to do maybe a 10min run, drills and strides, then do some massage/stretching.

AND...get to start carb-loading tonight! The idea is to teach the body to burn fat, then be certain the glycogen stores are maxed between now and Sat. THEN, on Sat AM: low carb breakfast. The research says that if you start exercise with carbs in the gut/system, it will burn that first. However, if you're low carb/low glycemic in the AM, it'll start with less sugar. This is in spite of mid-race fueling with sugars.

SUPZ coindcidence: Jimothy just posted a nutrition post today! Notice what he eats, pre-race: mostly "nut butter" (low carb)...
