Grand Teton NP Bike

June 2, 2009 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Bike

Weather: cool, RAINY

Comments:
Drove from Bozeman to Jackson today. The weather was STILL AWFUL: windy and cold in Bozeman, and rainy into Jackson.

We drove over Teton Pass, into Jackson, the N near Moose. We parked outside the park and got our bike stuff together. A light rain/mist was going when we left.

We rolled N on US191 to the junction, then "snuck into" the park by blowing past the ranger station. Once off 191 the traffic improved, as did the weather. We had a quick stop at Jackson Lake Lodge, which was bizzare because there was some business convention there -- it looked like we walked into the Portland Hilton Convention Center or something, rather than being in the middle of a NP! We didn't stay there; rather, we biked farther south and had a coffee and clifs at Signal Mtn.

The last leg was pretty nice; though there was some on/off rain, the cloud level lifted and we were able to see the bottom half of the Tetons! The riding was pretty easy, too, rolling into Jenny Lake. A quick stop there, then we hauled along the park road back to the car! Nice 48 miler that went by quick!

After the ride, we changed out of our soaking wet clothes and headed into town. We found this sweet little resort place in town that gave us a 2-room cabin for only $70!!! From there we cleaned up and hit up "The brew pub" (Jackson-speak for Snake River Brewery). Great food, great beer. One add-on downtown, then we hit the sack.

GOOD DAY, after a gloomy start.
