W Dry Creek Road walk w/Burch

April 14, 2013 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Walk

Weather: 60s, breezy

Comments:
Nice morning! Didn't sleep very well. Up at 4ish, rolled around in and out of sleep, then up at 5ish to read for 20min, then back asleep til 7ish.

Sunny but chilly in the AM. Called my uncle and my mom, then ran into Clarkie and had some tea with him, and Burch. Mini-soak w/BDG and Denise (nice morning "view"!) + Amy and later Cassie, then off for the walk with Burch.

Drove out to the country store on Dry Creek and walked W. Dry Creek. Walk felt pretty good, but it was nice to chat with Burch. Got his "story" about getting into ultras: never really ran in HS ("middle school cc"), was a "powerlifter" (+30lb muscle on his present frame) and decided he should "start running". First 26.2 in '04ish? Then into ultras in 2006. Nice walk and chat with him.

Body felt pretty OK, but the L foot got sore near the end. I got a blister between ball of foot and 2nd toe, so I was on the outside of my foot (which is what caused that blister to begin with), so it didn't feel too great.

After cleaning up and checking out, went only briefly to the wine tasting. Chatted with only a few folks before taking off, just before 1PM. It's one of those deals where the drive was looming over me, I was fatigued, and I could've spent like hours talking to everyone there! So when the proper tour was about to begin, I took off.

Before leaving a bunch of us posed in a pic with Jorge's coaching partner/roommate, Laura. "SOO HOT! WANT TO TOUCH THE HINEY! AAAOOOUUU!" She was into my pink again today. B-).

"It was great, we talked, we took a picture together, I put my arm around her BAAACK..."

"OK, KILL HIM!"

I'm curious about her situation. It's definitely weird: she's not married, yet she lives with a guy fo shozies, and with Jorge. Dunno. She's pretty damn, fine, I know that for a fact.

Drive home was OK. Just felt rushed. Took forever. I stopped for about 10min for gas, then another 30 to talk to my friend Max. 101 was a nice drive through Redwood country. Stopped for another 20-30min to have an AWESOME beer at Eel River Brewing in Fortuna (south Humboldt County). With all those stops, it was well past 5 when I got to Eureka. Ugh! So no beach stops, which would've been great.

Driving 101 and 199 was fun, but again, rushed. Got into Grants Pass after 8, stopped at the same Subway as I did Thu night, then motored home. Got home at 11!

LONNNNG DAY, but great weekend!
