RF - Kinni Trails + Ritz Hill + Campus

Met Matt here at 0730 to run. I was SUPZ tired. Slept only 6hrs or so, and not that well. I video'd his stride - pretty good, much better, except for some SWIVZ. After working on some arm swing, we took off.

River Falls has pretty awesome trails; however, early/mid-summer sucks because they tend to over-grow. BGD'd be really confused: summer here, everything greens and grows like crazy, whereas the valleys (Willamette, Sacramento) dry up at that time. We ran from my mom's down to the River, which was nice, but once on the trail, it was a little tight due to growth. Moreover, it rained hard last night, so everything was wet. Irritating.

Tried to recreate one of my old trail loops, but again, they were both overgrown and had downed trees. Had to bail out of this wooded strip into a farm field and run 200m through that to the country road.

From there, we ran about 2 miles down the road to another dirt road, to ANOTHER little trail segment. By then I was feeling pretty shitty: just over still, some mild (but annoying) L knee pain, and L lateral foot pain. The past two days I haven't taped my ankle - hoping that MAYBE it's healed up and I don't have to, but I felt like I was beating up the lateral foot. Wearing the light 1400s didn't help.

Ran up the "steep" (250'?) hill, we did some of the trails up there, then dumped down into the backend of a small neighborhood. The area's nicknamed "Ritz Hill" because the trail pops out right across my the Ritzinger house - home to my 7th grade English teacher - one of my all time favs. She was actually home and outside when we ran by, so we stopped to chat, which was fun. Used to do that a ton, like, 8 years ago, when I was still in RF.

From there, we ran around by the HS, got some water, then decide to just run back to Mom's, another 3mi.

Overall, the pace was pretty easy: 8? Tough to say how long this run was: we were out well over 2hrs, but stopped for >10min, total.

I *should've* gone and run more, but I was just tired and stiff, and sore. Once again invoking the "Ellie Clause"...

I think I'll try to run long again tomorrow before I head out...
