I Can't See Across Lake Mendota; Heck, I Can Barely See Across the Street

June 12, 2013 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Torrential Downpour

Comments:
Campus -> Apartment

I was nervously eyeing the weather all afternoon in anticipation as the storms encircling Madison were poised to strike. It transpired that I was set to head for home just as the worst blow struck and I ended up running in quite a downpour with all-too-close sounding thunder and lightning.

I briefly took shelter under an overhanging roof, but decided the storm was not about to let up and I was already soaked regardless, so there was no point in waiting. I reached the lake and made sure to take a look across it to the north where the radar showed the very worst of the storm, but I could see nothing but clouds even as near as Picnic Point.

After I completed the section by the lake, the storm let up to a more moderate rain, the thunder ceased, and the wind died down. I completed the middle section of the run in a brief calm; as I ran up High Point to my apartment at the very end, it became very dark again and more ominous looking clouds rolled in. I made it back before the second round.
