June 19, 2009 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: mid 60s, a little breezy but not bad
Comments:
Woke up today and did some "internet errands", per usual, and it occurred to me that was legitimately HUNGOVER from last night. Came home from REI to find an impromptu gathering at the house, so I wound up enjoying several Deschutes products (and a Ninkasi) in a short amount of time. Didn't feel too peppy this AM.
Didn't feel to great heading over to the track but once I warmed up I felt fine. Did 2xROR on my own before Jeff showed up and they went pretty well:
1:12, 33, 1:12 = 2:58
1:14, 35, 1:14 = 3:04
Not gonna lie, I was pretty damn tired after those two, especially with an uptempo 600 jog between the two. Jeff showed up and then we did 3 more RORs, but much slower (AT pace, essentially):
1:22, 38, 1:27 = 3:32
1:23, 40, 1:33 = 3:36
1:29, 38, 1:33 = 3:40
After a mile recover we did 3x200 with only 30 seconds STAND IN PLACE rest between:
31, 32, 33
Jeff BLEW ME AWAY in the first two (must've run 28s), then dogged the last one. I ran slow on that last one because I was yelling at him to quit pussing out. :)
Good times. It's fun to (A) get in shape and FEEL GOOD and (B) have someone to train with. Jeff's helped me to "open up" the stride and WOW, did it feel GOOD today.
Because of the optimizations in form, not only will I be more efficient but I think this is going to solve my "burnout" issues...which I think stemmed from poor mechanics and joint/muscle loading. Things are the most "in balance" than I've ever felt before...
