Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 60s, sunny, dry, nice...but allergies?
Comments:
Pretty good day at work; stayed late working on Sarah (my swim coach) and her gait stuff, so I didn't get out running 'til 6.
Notable: I had a rather large chunk of super-sugary cake around 3PM. So on the run, initially I felt STRONG - rolling mid/high 6s pace, but my breathing/lungs felt tight, which is a typical allergy response.
But about 20->30min into the run I just CRASHED - felt awful! Actually stopped to walk a minute! Thought about cutting the run short, but I kept going. I felt much better in the last 3mi of the run, maybe because I burned off the sugar! But I also had nasty heartburn, which sucked.
Mechanically: hammies not too bad, a little sore, but as if it was from yesterday's swim. Worked on the "Salazar Stride", which I'd forgotten about: the notion of good hip extension, followed by the high heel recovery "behind". Stride felt good!
HR was spiking a lot, but I averaged 150. Ran this loop in 55, which is pretty fast.
Started thinking about how awesome it'd be to run with/against Morton at DS!
Post-run: met Tommy, LB and later Mr Roberts at Highlands for birthday beers. Drank too much! But fun overall, and good to have LB in town for the week!
