October 4, 2013 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 60s, nice?

Comments:
Ran right after yoga. This is usually a really bad idea, since I'm tired and sore as shit from Chelsea's class, but I needed the miles, and I knew I'd have rest time.

Stride felt pretty good...wore the SI belt again, and the hamstring was like 98%. The Silver 890s are definitely dead, though...had 'em for a long time!!

Got home and packed up, got some Subway, and met Mr Roberts at Dan's. Left at 4ish and hit the TH at 6ish, then parted ways after 1.5mi climb into the Diamond Peak Wilderness.

Was a little nervous to see a bunch of snow (1-2") at 5000'. Thankfuly it wasn't much worse at 6000'+ where I set up camp, about a 15min hike on a 340-deg compass bearing. It was sunset so I didn't f around, but I was really hoping to start a fire and warm-up. After setting up my tent - on a patch of snow, as there was only one bare spot and I wanted the fire to go there - I tried to start a fire, to no avail. All the ground fuels were wet! F!

So I went to bed around 8ish. Could NOT fall asleep, it was so fucking cold! Only got worse during the night. I was inside my sleeping bag: hat + jacket hood + bag over my head + blanket...and I was still cold. IT. SUCKED. I got legitimately claustrophobic, as I felt trapped in there, surrounded by a frozen world. Floated in and out of sleep for a couple hrs, getting COLDER, when I finally moved my tent to that bare patch, and after that it seemed to improve.

Rough night...
