Legalize the Weed

October 5, 2013 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 75 Cloudy/Humid

Comments:
Gorham to Sherman to Marston to Johnson to Picnic Point and straight back via Johnson again-

After spending the previous hour in a completely absurd argument, I was kind of ticked off when I started my run. As a result I started off fast, though I experienced hip pain and had to slow down to a more reasonable pace soon. Also, unlike all of this week, I experienced no stomach difficulties at all. A little galvanization does that sometimes.

On the way back, I took State Street past St. Paul's and noticed a large crowd and blue tents set up. My immediate thought was (groan) there's a protest. It turned out to be for pot. Apparently there's a bill in the Wisconsin State Assembly to legalize medical marijuana (which won't pass thank goodness). There's also something extra special about running by your church to see a crowd sitting on its steps smoking pot in broad daylight. Still, I couldn't think of anything worth saying as I ran by so I kept going in silent, blank shock. I suppose it's quite obvious that legalizing weed would get about 85% of the vote in Madison, but I'm still horrified by the prospect at yet more legalized recreational drug use under the absurd premise that there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Yay for utilitarian ethics... And of course they aren't honest about it at all, instead opting for the ruse of medicinal marijuana, which they'd have to pass via the legislature instead of trying for FDA approval like every other pharmaceutical (of course that's because pot would have no chance in hell of getting FDA approval). Not to mention the amount of recreation pot being smoked on site. Only in America do we try and outlaw getting refills of pop or trans fats in restaurants while simultaneously trying to legalize weed. I can just wait to hear in 20 years the folks all bent out of shape in hatred for whatever evil corporation sells it after they worked to make it legal. Only in America can the very same people be afraid of eating genetically modified foods because they "cause cancer" and then take up smoking. Dirty hypocrites, as usual.

Anyway that's how the run went. The rant is over.
