Up early to catch the flight to San Antonio. My friend Jimmy's dad picked us up at 0620, then we went mdiway to the airport to pick up Jimmy, himself, who was also working (flying) that morning. He thought (or so he told us) that he was flying to Dallas.

Got there and took this bomb "side entrance" via the rental cars, where the security line was like 2 people long. After security, we got some breakfast (I got my Nth cup of mediocre coffee of this trip), then headed to the gate.

Jimmy followed us...then randomly said, "It's Take your Ultramarathoner to his Race Day". I was like, "HASHTAG HUH?". But it was true: he was piloting (more specifically, first officer-ing) our flight!

Nice, non-stop to SAT. I half-slept on the way, with a window seat and the aisle beside me open. Jimmy couldn't get me into first class, but specifically sent the flight attendant to me to try to give me stuff!

Flight was OK. I was a little anxious. It's weird; I have this dual anxiety: the race, and missing Chelsea SO damn much. It's weird. One could be fueling the other, but at times they feel one in the same. I miss her so much it hurts.

Once off the plane, we snapped some few pics in the cockpit, then partied ways. Since I have to fly out so early, I got my own rental car and while my mom/her friend Teri headed toward Bandera, I went to the park where I ran in '12.

It's a cool little urban park/zoo area just south of the airport. It's wooded with a few main gravel paths around, but TONS of singletrack randomly zig-zagging through the trees and brush. It was SUPER-FUN last time to whip around the undulating mini-hills (3-8') and curves - it felt like it got me ready to hit the Bandera course, and this year did not disappoint.

Felt...so-so. I still feel like there's a lot of shit in my lungs, and that worries me. I also had some L hamstring tightness (but I think that's residual from "out-running my mechanics" on Monday).

After that, stretched/ate, hit Whole Foods, then drove to Bandera. Our house is pretty nice and two blocks from "downtown" (pop 1000). Took a little snooze, then had a couple beers and ate. Pretty good day...
