For the first half I ran easy with some other guys who were going much longer, then I turned around, ran another mile easy, then did two miles at tempo pace. I thought I'd be slow from the poor road conditions that forced me to slow down and speed up erratically, but my pace ended up being pretty great. For the fifth mile I was on a nice stretch of clear road and I ran a 6:03 pretty easily. The next mile was pretty annoying since there was a lot of ice and snow that I had to slow down drastically on, plus some traffic to wait for, but even that was a 6:27. And it all felt very smooth. Encouraging. On the flip side my knee felt weaker than usual after I iced it, probably from the unusually high volume for the day.
