my hunt

February 4, 2014 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: high 30s, fog

Comments:
I led - my first manspace hunt since MonkeyBoy's 12/17 hunt.

Pretty big group: me, Lewis, Dan-O, Mr Roberts, The Hammer, Endicott (still can't remember his nickname), Cliff, and Tommy.

Made a big emphasis to run this MAF-style: EASY on the ups, moderate flats, and FAST on the downs. Took 'em on the "Constitutional Route": amazon trail to headwaters trail to Fox Hollow, but went old school by going west on Ridgeline. I faked that we were hiking the super-steep, muddy North Face, then took them down the rest of the trail to the "Choctaw Cut-off" - a wooded bushwack that Tommy took us on about 1.5 yrs ago, which ties you into this sweet dirt road that takes you back East.

We've never done it in the dark, so it was cool and fun to do it pitch black and fog; miraculously I was nearly spot-on with route-finding.

From there, we hammered down the steep dirt road, crossing Fox Hollow, all the way back to headwaters, then easy-uptempo (relative) back to Lewis'.

Nearly :90 of total run time for about 8.5 miles. Not bad for us.

EXCELLENT beer post-run: I brought a Firestone Velvet something or other stout - one of the best ever. Emily suprised me with a double-secret early batch of SPRING REIGN! SO GOOD!
