WTC course run w/BGD

February 22, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70F, amazing!

Comments:
Nice, leisurely morning: OOJ's "huevos", then some random "r-log memories", looking at all the stupid shit we did last year!

Legs felt pretty good from yesterday's 3.5K', and my allergies/energy were improved. Left the house just before noon and got to Cool just a bit afternoon. Did a solid warm-up to loosen things.

Long run today: 20 mi, 10 out and back on the Cool course to just past ALT and back. No water, no calories. SUPER-slow, with me leading.

GREAT run. Kept things super-chill, with emphasis on trunk stability and good hip/pelvic stab/power ("it's ALLLL in the hips!"). Good convos w/BGD: talking about sustainable running, and other stuff. Good random story about "Santiago Mendoza" and the mean streets of Yuba City! Certainly, BGD's sports history is a lot different than mine.

Overall I felt solid, with perhaps a slight "down" on the inbound from ALT to BB. We split a :44, which is rather absymal, but necessary. When BGD took off at Goat Hill, I slowed down, and even when hiking, found it tough to keep my HR <150!!

Leisurely made my way back to 49, then up to Olmstead/Cool. Total run time was about 3:25 and I felt GREAT! Form was still good, hammies fine, and very little stiffness. Did get some R big toe soreness, but I was in BGD's Salomon Sense Mantras...they were solid, but not awesome.

After the run, we grabbed some In N Out, then went to AAH for a beer, where we saw Kelly Cronin who, apparently, "definitely knows who I am"! ;-)

Back to BGD's after that for a bit, then to Boneshaker, where we ran into Kristi! More random convos over 1.5 beers before heading back to see Sara/SadeZ return.

GOOD day. I felt rejuvenated and re-inspired, and hopeful that this easy running and strong form will help me get to where I want to be.
