PM run with Mike

February 24, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nearly 60, nice!

Comments:
Ran with my coaching client, Mike, after work. We worked on a few things in the clinic, then ran to the river and around the Butte and back. Kept things easy, and felt pretty good.

Earlier today: I broke down and bought an EXPENSIVE Suunto Armbit 2 GPS + HRM watch. $550!! It's nuts, but I'll tax-deduct and I feel I need that mile-by-mile HR data. And, I got it from REI so if I hate it, I'll just return it.

Tonight, I was real nervous to see Chels. I guess my mind's been racing the past day+: thinking about where our relationship is at, what she says she wants, what she REALLY wants, and whether or not I'm able/willing to give it to her. Regardless, I felt like I was back in that spot to have to "impress her".

But I didn't feel like it was pressure, because I feel like her need for me to be more "masculine" is in line with MY Mission to be a more supportive, nurturing man to everyone.

So when I got to yoga, it was jammed and she was completely occupied talking to clients, so I nestled down on my mat in the front of the room...and just started talking with other women. Again, I feel the need to be social and reach out, but again, the pay-off was good: chatted with an older (40+?) woman in front of me who turned out to be a novice ultrarunner! She's going to run Mac Forest and Waldo this year, so we chatted about all sorts of things.

The class was terrific - it was HOT in there so we all got a big sweat rolling. I felt a bit of tension and worry about having not greeted Chels at the beginning of the class, but once class was over I got a big ol' smile and hug from her, which was a relief.

After class, we convened at her house, and caught up on the last week, and had some good chats. It felt really good to reconnect and re-establish some emotional connection. And, I'm happy to say, we also "reconnected", intimately, at night's end. ;-)
