PRE + SPFD + Fairmout easy

March 29, 2014 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50, on/off hard rain, windy

Comments:
Slept IN - like, 12 hours total (8-8!), then did quite a bit of rlogging and other writing, ate breakfast, cleaned up, did some strength work, then finally went for a run.

It's classic Oregon Spring right now: pouring rain for 5-30 minutes, then not rain, then rain, then sun...repeat. I hit the run when it was finally "sunny", but knowing it would go to shit.

**Realized a couple KEY things pre and during this run:

1.) I've been flat-backing A TON on my runs. I really do think this is why BOTH hammies are consistently sore. So pre-run, I worked some drills and exercises aimed at a neutral (arched) low back, but still a forward hip hinge.

2.) I realized that on my run yesterday with Mike, my HR was WAY lower than usual. And it occurred to me that it COULD be due to the faster cadence! He forced me to get close to 180 (and at times I could be at 165 or less).

So today, I thought of those two things and felt WAY better - both in HR and in pace! Damn!

On the run, listened to two podcasts: Stephanie Howe on URP, and Dr Mark Cuccuzella on TRN. The former was predominantly annoying (and that she was so dismissive about LCHF really pissed me off), and the latter reinforced good things about run cadence and breathing!

Listened to tunes in the last 3 mi or so and thought about actually RUNNING WELL at Sonoma, which peaked the HR a bit. ;-)

Cleaned up, then hit up DT to this new tea shoppe. Thought I was going to be the only guy there, but Dan-o repsonded to my invite, so we would up chatting over tea - then another place for beer/chow - for four hours!

Nice, relaxing day.
