Eula Triangle

April 26, 2014 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50? Dry

Comments:
Got up fairly early to get the run in. No breakfast - decided to go into this one fasting. Did have some tea, then a coffee with heavy cream, but that was it.

The idea today was to do the Eula Triangle (about 16mi, 5k') at "recovery" or 100mi pace: that is, 130HR on the flats, and a max of 160 - a tall order, given how steep Eula is.

South Willamette trail (the bottom of the triangle) is a rolling trail, and it was in GOOD shape, cut back of brush and not too muddy. HR was LOW here, which rocked! Split a :57 (normal, non-discipline is :55), then went onto Eula.

Ran EVERY STEP of Eula, which is super-hard to do, as it's steep as fuck. The steps were maybe 2" at times, but I ran it all, and kept it all at 160HR. Took a while to get to the top of Hardesty, then ran easy (:42) down, which felt good. Jogged a mile warm-up, so wound up with 19 for the day.

L ankle is pretty f-ing stiff, though...as it was earlier in the week...

Rest of the day? Weird. Came home, and finally got a meal in at 345, then met some of the "hunters" for a happy hour beer at First Ntl Tap House. Was in a haze, post-run, I think because of allergies. Me, Mr Roberts and Blaine, Tommy and Emily. Stayed out for another beer at Barnlight with Emily, where we talked about a myriad of topics, including Cliff and "dating concepts". Not really interested in her, but she's a nice person. :)
