May 22, 2014 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 80, nice
Comments:
Felt pretty worn today, but otherwise not too bad! Quads felt it, but the feet were OK.
Worked a full day again (but only to 4:30), then headed home. Spent a big chunk of time wrapping up some deets for the trip and doing a bit of packing, then I finally headed out for my run around 6PM.
Ran into south EUG for some easy miles, but I wanted some "old school" turnover work. Four years ago, the summer of '10 and between my two fastest-ever marathons, I did 4x200m hard (with 200m jog rest) every Thursday. I was clearly worked from yesterday, but I knew two minutes worth of hard running wouldn't tax the energy system too much.
Ran south, but turned before Tugman to head back to SEHS track. I ran pretty slow to keep the HR in the 130s, but picked it up when there was the threat of being "chicked" by a few local elite women!
Once at the track, I did a few strides amongst a big group of adult running group track workout-ers, and some middle school kids. We used to work out with the "Flyers" a year ago, but this is the first time I'd even seen them since then. While they were doing Ks and 8s, I hammered 4x200. I felt like I was running fast, but couldn't manage to break 32. That's fine.
The back was a little so-so during work today - post-Hardesty - and was STIFF after this run. It came around the rest of the night...
