Are totally a thing. I have noticed though that New Brunswick/Rutgers has a lot of red soil, which is something I don't see much of in NJ most of the time. So, I decided to do a bit of research. First try, I started looking at Canada's New Brunswick, and didn't realize my mistake for a solid 10 minutes, so that was a nice start. But, after a bunch of digging around a few websites, I found a nice comparing the soil compositions of different towns in the state, which was perfect. It seemed to have a higher clay content than a lot of other areas, which would seem to make sense given the reddish color. There also seems to be a lot of Devonian aged stuff around here, but I don't think that has much to do with it. Come to think of it, he fact that New Brunswick is all right next to the Raritan river is actually a pretty good explanation for it (Large, slow flowing). And here I was hoping that Rutgers just paid for enormous amounts of red dirt to match the school colors. Darn.
Oh yeah, I ran today too. It cooled down a lot, so the temperature was ideal. Since the tow path is kind of hard to map out in advance, I guessed the turnaround based on what I thought the pace was. Turns out I was a fair bit quicker than I expected to be, so I went a bit farther than I wanted. But, I felt fantastic, and I think that's the important part.
