DLXXXVII

June 16, 2014 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80, quite dark and humid

Comments:
They tend to go really quite right,
The runs of the Arlington Night
With the pace at a cruise,
And nothing to lose,
I'm always left feeling alright.

Trying to avoid the heat, I set out on a night run at 11:45pm. At this stage of the game, I see no reason to demoralize myself and reduce the quality of the run due to heat and humidity when I can just as easily avoid it; as Anthony once wrote in his log, however, there comes a point when one must "stop resenting the weather and wishing for water." I have not had a single run in the dark that has not gone well or excellently. Yes, this run exceeded the range on the schedule, but I was not trying to one up, or rather "three up" Zeke. It happened and it was beautiful--not even because of the slightly faster pace during the second half, but the darkness and hum of the night. I took Military to Lorcom to Lee Highway to Vermont Street to Vacation Lane to Taylor Park to Military to 31st (not stopping this time) and back home. I will not run tomorrow, but will see my mother's personal trainer again for weights. Last time, I did not fully recover until Saturday, perhaps due to a lack of exercise for the previous three weeks; regardless, I hope my arms and legs bounce back better this time. I did one minute of six inches, flutter kicks and scissor kicks respectively and 3x10 pushups in between.
