Gorham to Park to Fish Hatchery to McKee-Fitchburg Bike Path to SW Bike Path back to campus to Gorham-
I decided to map out a new route for my long run along the bike path by the intersection of Fish Hatch and McKee because it looked to be almost entirely wooded on the satellite. I spent much of the day running errands and in the lab and came home a tad flustered, so I was slightly irritated to start. It was hot and sunny when I started, but it began to rain very, very lightly after a couple miles. Almost the entire sky was clear except for a small cloud over head and I could see the water droplets sparkling in the sunlight on my glasses. After about ten minutes that stopped and it went back to just being hot. I was really struggling. When I reached the wooded section of the new path I was exploring, I was relieved to get into the shade and felt exhausted already even though it had only been five miles. The path was really nice as it wound through the woods along a stream. I'd like to run here again sometime. By the time I reached the SW Bike Path I was really exhausted and just wanted to be home. When I returned, I got into a lengthy conversation about engineering with one of my neighbors' friends on the front porch that I ended because I simply needed to get some water before I collapsed. I was really loopy by the end and grabbed my water bottle and laid down on my bedroom floor in the dark for a while. This was one of those runs where I somehow managed to destroy myself, even though on paper it doesn't look that bad. I think it being my first long run in actual heat this year played a huge part. I was certainly dehydrated considering I weighed 7 pounds less afterward than I normally do.
